About the centre

Divine Mercy  Retreat Center has, over the years, evolved into a House of Prayer for all, and a place where God’s living presence is powerfully felt. The good God has provided peace, healing and solace for several lakhs of people at this Center, irrespective of caste or creed, in the past 10 years. The broken-hearted, the poor, the needy, the sick, the  suffering continue to witness divine intervention in their lives through wondrous miracles and incredible healings. Ever since it was founded in 2005, , people have been attracted to this Center not only locally from Chennai and its surroundings, but also from all over Tamil Nadu and various parts of the Country. This House of Prayer has united numerous broken families, directed the lives of thousands of youngsters that went astray and created a ‘culture of forgiving love’ in the society.http://logosretreatcentre.com/

Overview

It was in Potta that the retreat ministry which was part of the renewal movement of the Vincentian Congregation of India started first. Since 1950, Indian Vincentian priests have been conducting popular mission retreats in parishes in Kerala, India. The effect has been overwhelming – it brought out a dynamic spiritual transformation in the lives of people. As a result, residential retreat centres started to evolve.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor” (Lk 4:18) This was taken by St.Vincent as a special motto for his own ministry and that of the society of priests that he founded. The Vincentian Congregation, patterned on the society of priests founded by St. Vincent de Paul, was started in India in 1904.

The two main aims of the Vincentian Congregation are:

Divine Mercy Retreat Centre, Elavur was started in 2005. At present, there are 3/4  retreatsare regularly being conducted. Night vigils and one day prayers give new life and spiritual strength to the faithful. We preach retreats in Parishes in Malayalam, Tamil and English languages.
